Interprofessional Educators (2), Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long Term Care

We have two full time opportunities for Interprofessional Educators for our newly created Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long Term Care. These roles are leadership roles that will be responsible for coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating interprofessional clinical training and education activities. Reporting to the Manager, Centre of Learning, Research & Innovation in Long-Term Care, the Interprofessional Educators will provide expertise in interprofessional clinical training and education, and will deliver educational programs to staff and trainees.

Clinical Education:
• Coordinate/deliver interprofessional clinical education programs to staff and trainees,
• Conduct training, assess progress and report regularly to the Manager and Baycrest Executive sponsors,
• Work collaboratively with the Manager, Steering Committee members, and advisory council members in establishing a program framework for the Clinical Teaching Unit (‘CTU’).
• Prepare and present the Centre’s educational initiatives to various stakeholders.
• Plan, implement and evaluate educational strategies that support and promote the goals of the Centre of LRI.
• Engage in scholarly activities, such as presentations and publications.
• Participate in guiding external visitors through the CTU.
• Participate in the coordination of a core course in long-term care/geriatrics, establishing an annual LTC conference, a summer institute for trainees and intensive preceptorships.
• Work collaboratively with the Manager and Steering Committee members in coordinating a teaching curriculum for the CTU.

Program Coordination
• Participate in the coordination of the research, evaluation and innovation components of the Centre for LRI
• Participate in engaging the Centre of LRI Advisory Council and Baycrest Executive sponsors and keeping them informed of the educational program offerings in the CTU
• Maintain records and statistics related to skill training and certification
• Consult with staff and trainees to assess their current and future interprofessional learning needs and develop and coordinate sessions to meet these needs.

Quality Management and Best Practice Integration
• Participate in the continuous improvement of services and operations,
• Promote concepts of best practice guidelines through articulation of knowledge skills and attitudes required for health professionals within an interprofessional practice environment and integrate research into practice to ensure best practice standards are maintained,
• Ensure practices and processes are in accordance with legislative, regulatory and professional standards/requirements.

The successful candidate will have:
• Master’s degree in a health care discipline.
• Registered & in good standing with their college or equivalent
• Certificate in geriatrics is an asset.
• Three (3) years related experience as an educator.
• Long Term Care experience
• Experience working with regulated and unregulated care providers
• Advanced clinical skills in gerontology.
• Knowledge of the quality and related reporting requirements under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, Local Health System Integration Act (i.e. the performance obligations and indicators needed to support Baycrest’s Hospital Service Accountability Agreement (‘HSAA’), the Excellent Care for All Act and other pertinent legislation and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of curriculum design and program evaluation.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Effective stakeholder engagement, interpersonal skills and communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization,
• Superior verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to influence and establish credibility with individuals at all levels of the organization, challenging the status quo and being a catalyst for positive change.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Ability to direct and motivate team and others and to distill complex information into clear, concise messages.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, often competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities.
• Demonstrated commitment to process improvement.
• Demonstrated advanced facilitation skills
• Demonstrated expertise and ability to apply, teach, coach and mentor individuals and teams.
