(Ottawa, October 23, 2014) The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) and Certified Profile, North America’s leading background screening and compliance management solutions provider for colleges and universities, are proud to announce the publication of the first edition of Quality Advancement in Nursing Education – Avancées en formation infirmière, a bilingual, blind peer review journal, which addresses questions related specifically to quality advancement in nursing education. Quality Advancement in Nursing Education – Avancées en formation infirmière provides a forum where issues concerning the quality of nursing education at the system, institutional, or organizational level are discussed. CASN is pleased to be working with Certified Profile, who is providing generous support for the publication of this journal.

“On behalf of the CASN Board of Directors, I am pleased to be present for this important moment in Nursing Education” said CASN President, Linda Ferguson, RN, PhD. “We are at a critical juncture nationally and internationally and it is essential that nursing educators advance knowledge that will enhance the education of registered nurses and ultimately, the delivery of health care services and the health and safety of the public.”

With the collaboration of several highly respected scholars in the nursing field, Quality Advancement in Nursing Education – Avancées en formation infirmière, published twice a year, will promote excellence in nursing education through the publication of research, theoretical, and policy papers from a Canadian and an International perspective. Co-Editors in Chief Jacinthe Pepin, inf., Ph.D (Université de Montréal) and Florence Myrick, RN, PHD (University of Alberta) have been pivotal in the realization of this timely publication. The first edition is now available online.

“The Certified Profile team is proud to support this forward thinking initiative,” noted Joe Finley, President of CastleBranch Corporation of which Certified Profile is a part. “It is important to have this forum to provide information and evidence that will enhance nursing education for registered nurses. We applaud the efforts of CASN, our valued partner.”
Clémence Dallaire, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Laval University said “Representing CASN/ACESI, this Journal offers the larger Canadian nursing community a publication in both official languages.”
